Online Backup Review: AT&T Remote Vault

AT&T did not make it to our list of recommended online backup services. Compared with similar backup companies, Remote Vault is more expensive, yet offers a much lower quantity of storage space, and comes with fewer features. At $10/month, you are only alloted 5GB of storage space. That may have been sufficient 5 or 10 years ago, but today's typical computer user will likely need more than 5GB. Considering that each additional GB of storage is automatically charged an additional $2 each month, the costs can sky-rocket very quickly. Remote Vault also lacks the bells and whistles that can be found with competitors such as SpiderOak or Carbonite. We also discovered a low rating with the Better Business Bureau. Based on all of these factors, we'd advise staying clear of AT&T for your online data backup needs.

| Cons: More expensive than others. Fewer feautures and less storage space. Each GB over the 5GB limit is charged an additional $2/month. Potential for expensive monthly bills. AT&T is notorious for bad customer support in general. |
